Animal Crossing: New Horizons just reached 6 million physical units sold in Japan in 7 months after its release for the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020, making it the fastest video game to reach that goal.
That record was previously held by Pokémon Gold and Silver, which took 13 months to sell the same amount of physical units back in 2000.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the fifth main entry in the Animal Crossing series, is a life simulation video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. The player assumes the role of a human character who moves to a deserted island after purchasing a package from Tom Nook, a tanuki. The player can explore the island, gather and craft items, catch insects and fish, while developing the island into an anthropomorphic animal community.
